Fall is here! Don’t forget to use your Dental Benefits.

Fall is one of the busiest times of the year! Children and parents are still adjusting to the new school year, especially during these unprecedented times, fall sports seasons coming to an end and everyone is preparing for Thanksgiving. Not to mention parents working and planning for the holidays!

With all this activity consuming your time, Dentique Smiles wants to remind you to schedule you and your family’s dental appointments before the end of the year.

Why before the end of the year? Because if you don’t use your 2020 dental insurance benefits before 12/31/2020, you lose them!  Dental insurance doesn’t roll over to the following year normally. This also goes for Flexible Spending Accounts. You often associate the “If you don’t use it, you lose it” phrase around this time.

Besides taking care of an existing tooth pain or scheduling a routine cleaning and exam, here are several reasons to schedule your dentist appointment here at Dentique Smiles in Conroe, TX.

  1. Your Insurance Deductible– Your deductible is the amount of money patients pay to their dentist before their insurance company will pay for dental services. If you already paid your deductible, but only visited the dentist once, you are not “getting your monies worth”. Your deductible starts again each new year.
  2. Fee Increases or Substantial Changes in Coverage– 2020 there are *a lot* of changes happening to our health care system and coverage. Therefore, using your benefits before the end of 2020 could be beneficial as we never know what 2021 has in store for your benefits.
  3. Use flexible spending account (FSA)– Do you have remaining funds in your FSA account? This is an account that you establish through your employer and that you may have elected to have some of your pre-tax pay put into. Use it or lose it: If you don’t use all your FSA by the end of the year, you’ll lose them.
  4. Use the benefits you are paying for – Through your insurance provider, you currently paying dental insurance premiums every month. If you’re not using these benefits, you’re throwing money out of the window essentially. You may not be experiencing pain or dental discomfort however, you and your family should always have regular dental cleanings and screenings looking for early signs of gum disease, cavities, gum recession, and even oral cancer. The mouth is often times the first place we can identify larger health issues. Come and see us!
